Bacon!

I found a decent bacon! Let me be clear, this is still not bacon exactly, but the flavor is much closer than the other products I've tried. The texture is still not quite right and still probably a bit low fat, you need to oil the pan to fry it. But the flavor is good! It's smokey.

The winning fake bacon: Morningstar Farms.

  1. hey, i've tried this one! i agree, it's decent. i had the best success when i cooked it on a cookie sheet in the oven to crisp it up. frying hasn't worked as well for me.

  2. it's not exactly a believable substitute in that you could ever confuse it with bacon, but it's much better than the other types i've tried. bacon must be very tough to replicate!

  3. Jenny keeps suggesting Bacos. I need to check those out. I've heard baconaise is veggie too, so I am not sure if it's the flavor or just the texture? I keep imagining homer simpson saying it's "one magic animal." I did fry this, but i experienced the same, it did not crisp; I'll try the cookie sheet.
